My name is Laura. I was born in Charlotte and grew up in Concord. This is my first semester
at UNC Charlotte as an English Major. Literature is my favorite, but I like grammar and linguistics as well. My minor is Women's
Studies and this semester I am volunteering to help with the new Domestic Violence Museum on campus. I
am still undecided about what to research for my degree, but the each day provides more potential pathways.
If you feel like getting in touch with me email me at brunetteenough@hotmail.com or visit my partner site at http://brunetteenough.tripod.com/womensstudiesinternationalcollectivecorner/.

I work at the
bookstore on campus. This is a great job for me because I can let my OCD run wild straightening, stocking, and cleaning. I
am also a server at Chili's at Concord Mills. This postition suits me because it's a fast-paced and fun environment to work
in.

Karen Miller,
my mother, was born and raised in Coatesville and lived there until graduating from the local school, Coatesville Area High
School, also known as C.A.S.H.

Coatesville,
known as the Pittsburgh of the East, is the only designated city in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The population was
10,838 at the 2000 census.
Pennsylvania
is in the North-Eastern part of America.

My
family and I traveled to see my mother's hometown of Coatesville, as well as Lancaster, Philadelphia, and New York City, New
York in the spring of my junior year in high school. It was a really great trip because we went to all the historical sites
along the way. In Pennsylvania we saw how the Amish people live and the Liberty Bell. In New York City we visited Ellis Island
where my ancestors came into America.
I
still have a lot of traveling to do. I am interested in visiting the country of Israel because there is so much history in
that part of the world. Hopefully in the future I will get the chance to spend an extended period of time in the Middle East
to learn what it is really like to live there.
